Price Bands
What you pay for a horse or pony should be private, however we are aware that you need some indication of the level you can expect to pay. For this reason we have decided against “POA” and have gone for a “banding” approach.
A – Under £5,000
B – £5,000 – £10,000
C – £10,000 – £15,000
D – £15,000 – £20,000
E – £20,000 – £25,000
F – £25,000 upwards
Terms
There are a few things we can do to make buying from us even more attractive:
1. We offer FREE SHIPPING to any mainland UK destination on completion of purchase. This is at our own arrangement, on a mutually agreeable date, using our own transport and driver. If you prefer to make your own arrangements we will pay 20p per mile towards transport costs, capped at a maximum of £250. Mileage is calculated on the round trip (i.e. picking the horse/pony up from us and delivering it to you) using the Google Maps “Get Directions” feature with start and end post codes.
2. We recognise that the outlay to purchase your dream partner can be difficult to manage in one go, and we can be flexible on terms. These are subject to agreement and entirely at our discretion, but we are open to:
- Consider half up front and the rest by instalments
- Selling your horse for you first (under some circumstances we may consider part exchange)
- Package deals that include elements of purchase, livery and training
- Other ideas if you want to propose them
3. We are as keen for you to make the right decision as you are, and we want the partnership you forge to be a long term success. For this reason we will:
- Insist you have an independent vet’s report
- Provide you with all details about the history of the horse or pony
- Provide you with feeding details and anything else you need to know
4. One of the biggest issues we come across is changing diet – if you change the feed too far away from the diet the horse or pony is used to you WILL change the temperament of the animal. For this reason, we will supply free of charge a month’s feed with instructions.
Types of horse and pony we sell
Llys Lew competition horses and ponies for sale fall into 3 categories:
- Horses and ponies with the Llys Lew stud postfix of “LL” have been bred, handled, backed, trained and competed by Tracy personally.
- Horses and ponies without the “LL” postfix will have been bought by Tracy at some point, either as a competition horse for herself, a brood mare or a foal to bring on. These will also have been trained and competed by Tracy but may have been backed elsewhere. Tracy doesn’t buy anything without knowing the history of the animal.
- Occasionally we will sell horses or ponies on behalf of other people, these will be clearly identified in the advert. In these cases Tracy will know the horse, owner and rider very well, and will have trained horse and rider.
Our pledges
- We believe in total honesty and will discuss any potential issues
- We will only let horses and ponies go to the right home. A good competition horse needs to go to a good competition home, and we want our horses to do well and be happy!
- We are committed to producing well rounded quality competition horses and ponies and pay great attention to temperament, feeding, health, socialisation with other horses and people, feet, backs and much else.
- We are always open to sensible negotiation and discussion around payment terms
